Macaroni and Cheese
Excellent side dish for many meals.
Ingredients
½ lb macaroni
1 tsp butter
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp salt
1 tsp mustard powder
1 TBSP hot water
1 C milk
3 C shredded cheese
Bread crumbs
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°. Cook macaroni in salted water until tender and drain.
Stir in butter and egg, then add 2 1/2 C cheese.
In a separate bowl, mix salt, mustard with the hot water and then add the milk.
Put macaroni mixture in a buttered casserole dish and pour milk mixture over.
Top with remaining cheese and bread crumbs.
Bake for 45 mniutes. The custard should be set and the top should be crusty.
