Macaroni and Cheese

Excellent side dish for many meals.

Ingredients

  • ½ lb macaroni

  • 1 tsp butter

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp mustard powder

  • 1 TBSP hot water

  • 1 C milk

  • 3 C shredded cheese

  • Bread crumbs

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Cook macaroni in salted water until tender and drain.

  • Stir in butter and egg, then add 2 1/2 C cheese.

  • In a separate bowl, mix salt, mustard with the hot water and then add the milk.

  • Put macaroni mixture in a buttered casserole dish and pour milk mixture over.

  • Top with remaining cheese and bread crumbs.

  • Bake for 45 mniutes. The custard should be set and the top should be crusty.
