
AD Chocolate Cake
AD’s mom always made this cake for special occasions. The family usually requested it for birthdays!
Ingredients
Devil’s food cake mix
⅓ C granulated sugar
½ C vegetable oil
1 C water
4 eggs
2 C whipping cream
2 tbsp confectioner’s sugar
1 package frozen raspberries, thawed
12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
¾ C butter, room temperature
Directions
Preheat oven to 325°.
Combine cake mix, granulated sugar, oil, water and eggs.
Pour into three 8 inch rounds, greased and floured.
Bake for 20 min or until done.
Bring 1 C whipping cream to a boil, then stir chocolate chips until melted, use whisk.
Cool until room temperature.
Whisk into chocolate mixture room temperature butter. Leave until room temp then put in fridge. Allow time to cool completely.
Whip 1 C whipping cream and confectioner’s sugar until stiff peaks.
Mash raspberries.
Assemble cake in the following layers- Cake, whipping cream, cake, raspberries, cake. Then frost with gnache.
